Collagen is essential for the structure and function of connective tissues, which bond other tissues and organs together. Collagen is also the most integral part of the skin’s fabric and naturally forms its mesh-like structure. Aging is closely associated with the loss of collagen and the deterioration of connective tissues; therefore, supplementation with collagen may help to counteract these negative consequences. In addition to three types of collagen, this product provides glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) such as hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate. GAGs are required for healthy structure and function of connective tissues, including joints and the skin dermis. Vitamin C is an antioxidant as well as an essential component in the process of making collagen. Additional antioxidants from red wine and grape seed extracts may help prevent cell damage and the consequent aging that is caused by free radical damage.
